Born in France Malgven Gerbes studied architecture at the ENSAAMA (Ecole Nationale Supérieuredes Arts Appliqués et Métiers d‘Arts) in Paris and worked as an architect for two years befor she began studying choreography at ArtEZ in Arnhem.
She lives in Berlin and Normandy. She is co-founder of the group s h i f t s. Malgven Gerbes choreographed and danced, amongst others, at tanzhaus nrw Düsseldorf, PACT Zollverein Essen, fabrik Potsdam, Potsdamer Tanztage, Uferstudios Berlin, Session House Tokyo, Miryang Summer Festival, Seoul Performing Arts Festival, Festival DANCE 2010 Munich, Temps d’Images Roumania and Festival Pharenheit CCN Le Havre.
She was a guest lecturer at the department for choreography of Korean National University of the Arts (KNUA), at ArtEZ as well as Dartington College of the Arts and the MA Choreography of Inter-University Center for Dance/HZT Berlin. She is currently working on movement research together with Eva Karczag.
