GOING INTO CONTACT

This installation focuses on the already 40 years of development of Contact Improvisation and its connection to other movement forms and specific ways of working. It is an attempt at creating a LivingArchive and researches the question: how can archival material be used for dance creation, unusual formats for presentation, and ways for transmission of dance?
This installation also reveals part of the research process of The Live Legacy project which started in Summer 2012. With interviews done in Germany, Holland and in the USA, inviting artists, teachers, institutions and scholars to share their legacies. We believe that through their personal stories and personal archives history is being created.
A specific aspect of this project is the collective approach to developing new forms of generating and inter – (and intra!) – seminating embodied knowledge.

CONTINUOUS CI PERFORMANCES

Under the frame of the permeable installation going into contact, Dieter Heitkamp will gather eight Contact Improvisation practitioners participating with continuous CI performances at the installation. Main focus is to give credits to a dance form and a strong technique, which was introduced in Germany since the 1980ies and since then mastered a strong influence among the contemporary German dance scene.
