a dance by Lisa Nelson and Scott Smith, after a Tuning Score proposition.
Essentially a communication format, the tools of the score allow each player to tune the image, the time and space in order to make meaning for themselves. Their opinions uncover the form as it arises and set the dance in motion. The tools of the score make visible the space between the arbitrary and the inevitable, an improvisational puzzle for both observer and performer.
Lisa Nelson and Scott Smith have been collaborating since the early ‘90s, exploring the improvisational territory of Tuning Scores first with the group Image Lab in the U.S. In 2001, they created the duet format of GO which they have presented in festivals in U.K, Bratislava, Germany, the U.S., Italy, Portugal, France, and Poland.
