Angela Guerreiro, curator, producer, teacher, dancer and choreographer was born in Lisbon in 1965 and lives in Hamburg since 1994. She was trained in classical dance with Norma Croner under the system of the Royal Academy of Dance (1975-86). Studied at the Superior Dance School, Lisbon, (1986-89) and at the Center for New Dance Development (EDDC), Arnhem (1989-91). From 1991-94 she danced for the company RE.Al from João Fiadeiro and toured around the world.

From 1995-2002 she was resident choreographer at Kampnagel Hamburg creating major works that toured national and internationally. From 2003-2010 produces at independent theater spaces in Hamburg showing her solo work ‘exposure’, ‘Hamburg2Shanghai’, ‘The last party’ and ‘Memory Play’. The solo ‘The Altar for three voices in a room’ was presented at the festival Moving Exiles- Veronika Blumstein, Swankhalle in Bremen. From 2006-08 Angela Guerreiro was board of directors of the Umbrella Association for Independent Theater in Hamburg (Dachverband Freier Theaterschaffender Hamburg e.V.).

In 2005 she initiates the festival DanceKiosk-Hamburg, producing the Kiosk.Company, DanceKiosk. Goes Island and ‘Tracing Dance from Addis Ababa to Nairobi and Hamburg’. From 2008-2009 initiated the project ‘dance beyond borders’ in collaboration with five European countries, funded by the European Cultural Commission. In May 2011 produced the project ‘SURVIVING DANCE – art, economy and politics’ at K3-Zentrum für Choreographie I Tanzplan Hamburg. She taught at several dance and theater institutions, festivals and dance centers e.g. Erika Klütz Schule, 5. Internationale Tanzwochen Münster, Hamburger Schauspiel-Studio Frese, Contemporary Dance School Hamburg, K3-Zentrum für Choreographie | Tanzplan hamburg, and University Hamburg – Performance Studies.

She was mentioned as ‘one of the last independent dance activists’ at the yearbook of TANZ 2011.
Currently se works on the project ‘The Live Legacy Project: Correspondences between German Contemporary Dance and Judson Dance Theater Movement’, funded by TANZFONDS ERBE – An initiative by the German Federal Cultural Foundation. And started in October 2012 the MA program of Dance and Movement Therapy at the SRH Hochshule in Heidelberg.
