The RCMP is now overseeing the investigation.

The Oka Nation Health Authority has asked the federal government for any additional assistance from the federal government to ensure the safety of its residents, but a reply from the federal Department of Public Safety has so far said that it is “not providing any assistance to the Oka Nation Health Authority.”

A spokesman for the Canadian Forces Divisional Headquarters, Col. Jim Bezanson, told the CBC’s The House Monday that the military is required to follow strict safety practices, but did not respond to questions about whether an accident involving military personnel has been reported before.
