Scant rain pushes up bushfire danger across New South Wales

Piercing rain is pushing up the risk of bushfire, and some areas are already under danger, the State Emergency Service (SES) says.

The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) says flash flooding caused by weather systems has caused more than 150 fires to burn across New South Wales, with about half of the fires having now been fully extinguished.

It says the heat has meant the grasses on high ground are starting to die from the intense heat and the drought.

“Pioneers of bushfire control are also being alerted to take precautions, as areas of low humidity and high vegetation are getting clobbered with brush and trees,” it said in a statement.

“Sydney has a very busy wildfire season coming up in April, with fires burning across the city.”

It says some areas are already at risk from brush fire.

More than 100 firefighters have been deployed across northern NSW as well as in southern Victoria, which is also facing a significant fire risk, the SES says.

On Saturday, a flash flood warning was lifted across the state, and강원출장마사지 a water rescue mission was launched.

Sydney is a major hub for brush fire growth, particularly in the south-west and west.
